You can also do this once in awhile<br><br />
apt-get dist-upgrade<br><br />
(it will upgrade all the stuff to the latest version).<br><br />

to search for a particular package use apt-cache, e.g.<br><br />
apt-cache search apache<br><br />
apt-cache show apache<br><br />
